Joyce St. George and her husband, Frank Canavan, founded the Margaretville Community Pantry 16 years ago. She’s on the frontlines of hunger in the 102nd District, and she’s devastated about what federal cuts to social safety nets are already doing to our most vulnerable neighbors, including seniors, children, veterans, and disabled people.
Marc Molinaro has repeatedly voted to cut funding for our food security, healthcare, and veterans’ support programs. As a political appointee in the federal government, he pushed for passage of the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), which will end food support for 1 million New Yorkers and cost 1.5-2 million New Yorkers their health insurance. And yet, the OBBBA will increase the federal deficit by over $4 trillion over the next 10 years, according to nonpartisan projections from the Congressional Budget Office and the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. So where is all that money going? Even more tax breaks for corporations and billionaires. The top 1 percent of households will pocket $117 billion in tax breaks annually. And while that windfall tax break for the wealthiest was made permanent in the OBBBA, the no tax on tips provision, which benefits working people? They made that temporary; it expires in 2028.
Molinaro is a lifelong career politician who has accepted many thousands of dollars from corporate interests. Janet is a lifelong healthcare provider who has spent her life serving people in need.
She refuses all corporate PAC donations. Nothing will change, in Albany or DC, until we stop voting based on labels and instead choose representatives who are running to serve everyone – not just themselves or their wealthiest donors.
